Total Defence Week

Total Defence Day was commemorated by AHS with a series of events during our Total Defence Week from 13 to 17 February 2017. The week started off with a sharing session about SGSecure by the officers from Bedok NPC and a patrol car display, to let students know how and what our police officers keep Singapore safe and secure.

The morning assembly programme was integral to sharing more information about the 5 pillars of Total Defence. Each morning, the Sec 1 CCE Ambassadors would share about a pillar of Total Defence. This kept students and teachers engaged and aware of the threats and how we can do our part to keep Singapore strong together.

6 students also attended the War Memorial Service, as part of the #NeverAgain commemoration. It was a stark reminder that Singapore can only be defended by ourselves, and to show gratitude to those who have lost their lives while protecting Singapore.

Apart from the combined CCE lesson package, the week’s celebration culminated with a sharing session by two of our alumni who are now F-15SG fighter pilots in the RSAF – Major Nah Jinping, who is the first female F-15SG fighter pilot, and Lieutenant Julian Low. They shared about the security threats Singapore faces and why they decided to take up a career in the RSAF. Students were excited and they even approached the pilots to have quick chats about whether they could be a fighter pilot as well. They were truly an inspiration!
