Green Wave Environmental Care Project

picture.jpgIn March 2015, a team of four members, Darry Ang, Chong Wei Jie, Dayrien Pua and Wesley Teo embarked on the Green Wave Environmental Care Project organised by Sembcorp Marine.
Their project focused on the creation of a product that could control the plankton bloom problem that plagued the owners of fish farms.  This product, AHS D.N.W Activated Carbon was created using used eggshells obtained from the school canteen and converted into activated carbon in a series of processes.

The team submitted their project in July 2015 and was among the 12 teams selected to present in front of the judges in October 2015. This project clinched the 3rd place for the Secondary level and won a prize money of $2000, with the 1st and 2nd positions going to Anglo-Chinese (Independent) and River Valley High School respectively.  Darryl Ang was also awarded the ‘Good Presenter Award’. This award was only given to two presenters in the Secondary level.
