Racial Harmony Week

AHS commemorated Racial Harmony Week from 16th to 20th July 2018. This year’s line-up of events were exceptionally meaningful and memorable.

Our recess programme consisted of the Secondary 3 CCE Ambassadors running Henna drawing booths and a Kachang Puteh booth. The students and teachers better understood the cultural activities of different cultures.

For the CCE lessons, we were pleased to have invited our guest speakers, Mr Salim bin Mohamed Nasir, Mr Hoirull Amri Tahiran and Mr Ahmad Saiful Rijal Hassan from the Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG), who shared their views about religious extremism and how it can affect Singapore’s social fabric.

Our guest speakers also engaged the staff, as part of the school’s AHS♥SG efforts and shared more about how to discuss sensitive issues in the classroom, in particular, about race and religion. This was an insightful session for the staff.

We concluded our celebrations with our guests from MiCappella, who shared and performed more about Singaporean songs. The teachers and students enjoyed the session and learnt more about cultural music.
