National Day, Partners’ Day and Student Leader Investiture

The school’s annual combined celebration, comprising National Day, Partners’ Day and CCA Student Leaders’ Investiture, was held on 8 August 2019.

The celebration began with the tree planting ceremony graced by the school’s stakeholders, and this was witnessed by the graduating Secondary 4 students.  This would serve to remind the latter that their holistic development would not have been possible without everyone’s support.

In the next part of the celebration, the school commemorated National Day with a Parade and Ceremony, followed by a combined performance helmed by the Chinese and English Drama Clubs.  The drama club members collaborated with the Sports groups to pay tribute to Singaporeans, past and present, for their contributions to the nation.   Some of the highlights included performances from the Choir, Band, Dance and Precision Drill Squad.   The various items were meant to remind students that Singapore’s independence and survival must never be taken for granted.

During the CCA Student Leaders’ Investiture, the outgoing Secondary 4 Student Leaders handed over a symbolic item to their incoming Secondary 3 juniors.  This ceremony would signify the ongoing development of leadership skills, and leadership renewal itself.

Dedric Pua Jun Jie, 3D:
Through the celebration,  I have learnt the school value of Responsibility. I fulfilled my responsibility in organising and doing my part to ensure that the performance was smoothly executed. I was tasked to ensure that the skit would be performed smoothly, and afterwards, to check that all equipment and performers were accounted for. Although I faced many struggles, it was nonetheless a memorable and fruitful journey. Not only have I gained more knowledge but I have also made many good memories and formed strong friendships.

Natalie Tan Shyn Ryu, 3E:
This year’s National Day celebration gave me opportunities to try new things, things that I would probably never get the chance to try again.  This experience has taught me how important it is to support one other through difficult times. It was super fun and a memorable experience as well.
